Andrew Miller works in various media including photography, print, and video. His works explore the strategies of identity of both person and place, agitating current states of being by imagining how they might be different. Questioning the context in which something is or has been viewed, challenging the way that is was seen and how it might be seen in the future. The scenes and characters that appear in his work are reduced to fundamental signs upon which many shifting identities are projected. Inspired by a sense of wonder in the commonplace and spiritual in the banal, the work’s subject matter ranges from the monumental to the mundane, from ancient burial chambers to discarded betting slips.
