In the series Sirens figures from glossy magazines are reworked
to reveal more deviant, sometimes vulnerable figures behind their
commercial façade. Adapting images of both fashion advertisements and
‘papped’ celebrities, the figures appear disquieting, lonely,
occasionally impassive, often uncertain or troubled. Their titles refer
to the Greek mythological Sirens who lured sailors towards
shipwrecking on rocks and include a phrase taken from the same magazine
in which each image originally appears. |
